I'm no expert, but my dad has had a small plot as long as I can remember. No netting. They have more squirrels than your grandmother has pills.

Im not interested in building a cage if thats whats needed I will just pass. Just thought it might be cool to grow some Rosemary, thyme maybe some jalapeños etc.Jacksonville FL

They are not going to mess with Rosemary and Thyme. Plus those two are perennial so they will remain there year after year. If you cook a lot it is a no brainer. @Dobie my house is in the middle of woods. Squirrels and birds everywhere. I have had no issues with veggies in the summer, however they do like lettuce when I plant that.------------------------------

I figured leafy veggies were out but herbs, peppers, tomato, squash, onions might be ok. I probably shoud be more worried about bugs eating it up on Florida.Jacksonville FL

Brother tar, I picked up the stuff today to add another bed tomorrow. This is getting to be a little to much like work.!

The hail did a number on the veggies I planted this past weekend. The lettuce and tomatoes are probably a total loss. I'm hoping to salvage some stuff.

@SGH , You have your work cut out for you! Not sure if I would use color mulch for veggies. I'd use a natural mulch like pine needles, pine bark, newspaper, straw, etc.

Haha.. That's what worries me. The leaching from this going into the ground worries me a little. Probably no worse than other stuff... Party monster likely waters the bed anyway after a late night.Fred19Flintstone said:

I am going to try topping my peppers (maybe half, I am a little skeered) and suckering the tomatoes this year. Last year, my tomatoes got to tall and didn't yield much. Didn't yield many peppers either.
