I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, but has anybody tried plate setter legs down and cook pizza in plate setter? If so does it work?

Sure it works - the suggestion to go legs up is to get the flames to wrap the setter and save the gasket. With the setter in the legs down position the lump is so hot the flames will always be directed right at the gasket.

But the pizza would burn directly on the PS...no? That's what he/she is asking.

If you cook with high temperature (over 600) you don't get the flame. We cook up 700 without burn the gasket and crack the egg also. A suggestion is give a little space between the PS and the pizza stone, doesn't matter what set-us you are using and what temperature also
