Gasket

Hey guys,

I need some info on gaskets. Is rutland the way to go? The egg one seems so cheap…. I do lots of pizzas so it doesn't hold up. What length do I need for large? Do you just do the bottom?
Can anyone link me to what I need on amazon?

Thanks

Yes Rutland is the way to go. Yes just the bottom. Contact @RRP. Best source for Rutland gaskets. He has them cut to the proper length for your egg. Don't bother with Amazon - contact Ron.

I agree with a rutland but I feel the top is the way to go. Either top or bottom will make the identical seal but the gasket stays cleaner if on the top.

If I had to do it again I would put mine on the top instead of the bottom.  Mine's been on the bottom for 4 years now and is working perfectly fine but it's covered in gunk and ash.

What's your process for installing on the dome? Remove dome, permatex and install gasket, then set the dome back on the base to cure?

I pull the springs and the bands, glue as normal and re-set the bands to the new gasket thickness. Here is my latest install http://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1178264/new-addition-to-my-egg-family#latest
