@platypusrex yeah I originally put the adapter on  wrong but fixed it before I got it attached to the egg.  The bent portion of the adapter is what the steel door slides into correct?  I'm 98 % sure that I had it installed correctly as it held 225* with no food on it for a solid hour and 40 minutes or so, It was a windy day and I'm wondering if it just got going good when I was putting the food on and couldn't recover. I even put the ceramic cap on it to try and bring the temp down, never got below 290*. Going to give it another whirl Saturday or Sunday as the weather is supposed to be much more ideal.

Went to cook tonight and figured out why the Stoker didn't keep the temp down where I wanted, the drip pan failed. So i was dumping fat from about 6 pounds of corned beef onto the fire. Going to give it another go tomorrow and let you know, but like I said, it held 225* so perfect I'm not anticipating any problems.

Scottborasjr, I had same thing happen to me a while back. I was at a eggfest last year and saw a couple of people using deep dish pizza pans as drip pans, not expensive and you can get different sizes to fit different eggs. Working great for me so far.

@NPHuskerFL Can you not use Stokerlog and PitPal at the same time? When I started my cook on PitPal it says there is an error communicating with the stoker, but when I hit the button on the app to go to the Stoker page it pulls it right up.

Should be able to do both simultaneously. :i_dunno: But, truthfully I've only done one or the other and never both. And now with the Pro version of Pit Pal I use it exclusively as it does the graphing and then some.  I'm guessing you tried to refresh. Wi-Fi IP is correct?  Other than that I'm not sure.

Yeah I'm using the ip to communicate while I'm not at home, maybe if I change it to the in network ip?

Freaking amazing thing. First cook my drip pan failed and was dripping hot fat onto the coals so didn't maintain temp the way I wanted to. And of course when I was trying to finish it started snowing and I haven't built my weather proof box yet.

This cook has been dead on for over two hours now, so freaking cool to be able to look at the cook on my computer or phone. Now just got to get the PitPal thing figured out.

Oh dear lord I'm so jealous right now @DMW Just make sure your drip pan is legit and you should be good to go. Can't wait for the pics of that.

FWIW Scott I don't use a drip pan except on maybe a butt and haven't seen crazy fluctuation (at least none I was overly concerned about) unless I'm peeking or leaking air. Did you upgrade to the Pro Edition of BBQ Pit Pal?

Yeah I bought the pro version of pit pal a few weeks ago. Finally got it to communicate with the Stoker after I put the kids to bed. Stoker held temp like a champ for this cook. Maybe I am off base with my drip pan guess. But I was able to go up and down temperature wise with relative ease this cook.

Have you been able to to get the Pit Pal app to change the temp?  I can get everything else to work, but when I try to change the temp, I get "Temperature controller not able to be set at this time.  Please update manually through the STOKER console if needed".  This is with a new Stoker II.  I emailed the app creator last week, and no response...

There's a button at the bottom of the app during a cook that says Controller Web Console. If you click that if you have everything setup correctly it will take you to the very webpage that you can look at on a computer. It only works over wifi from my experience, which is small. Tried to adjust it over 3g while having lunch with the boy at school a couple days ago and it didn't work.

Yep, that works for me too (it launches the native Stoker webpage).  If you click the pencil on the pit row during a cook, a box comes up with a place to put the temp.  When I hit save changes, I get that error.  In the end, your method works, so no big deal.  FYI, I'm on Android...

Android is the only way to go unless you are completely invested in the Apple system... Personally I like my Android phone.

I have a bi-racial, nay, tri-racial family of gadgetry.  We have 3 MBPs, 2 minis, 1 ipad, 1 droid tablet, 1 PC, one iPhone and I use an Android phone. Plus a bunch of crap we don't use (note to self: need to dump on craigslist).

I think I'm going to get an iPhone 6 plus.  I'm so near sighted I need the real estate to read it without hiking down my glasses like a grandfather.  Wait.  I am one of those.  I still feel 16, although people at Salado would argue I acted more like 14.
