@Sardonicus you seem to have no problem being a smart ass using a key board. I wonder what you would be like in person?

In person, I am just as patriotic as you.

I live in Alabama, so this story really disappoints me, Men and women have fought and died so the flag of this nation could fly unimpeded, and now we have Americans telling other Americans they cant fly the colors of this nation at a damn glorified cook out!   This is how the cancer that kills liberty starts to metastasize, small things just like this!

I could see crap like this in California or DC, but south Alabama? That's blasphemy!
  • 1. If it was the Confederate Flag, I'd probably be offended, though I'd agree to the right of freedom of speech to fly it as guaranteed by the Constitution.

    2. There is no war on Christmas. On public property some folks would prefer a separation of church and state as is their right guaranteed by the Constitution.

If anyone read the whole article, it has nothing to do with patriotism or the american flag or anything anyone is talking about on this thread.  Some guy for KCBS though there was a city ordinance against displaying signage.  He was wrong, the dude cooking for jesus or whatever had an american flag, nothing to do with the country of America or religion.

The actual story and the context it's taken in are two different things, the reporting gave the story a spin that was non-existant in reality.

@DMW - There's a first time for everything I suppose, I never saw that coming.

Hey are you gonna be at Salado?  Look for me, I'd like to meet you.  I'll be the drunk guy with cops following him around.

Now this song will be stuck in my head all night.

"Social media gives legions of idiots the right to speak when they once only spoke at a bar after a glass of wine, without harming the community [...] but now they have the same right to speak as a Nobel Prize winner. It's the invasion of the idiots."

Yep, I'll be there. I'll distract the cops if you promise to do the same for me.

Actually, the end of the world as I knew it back in the 1970's has long gone.
And I'm sorry to say, that despite the advances in science and engineering, our government continues to get worse & worse every year.  I feel sorry for what the future holds for my son and his off-spring.

The phrase "separation of church and state" doesn't exist in the Constitution. The constitution guarantees no government sponsored religion and your freedom to worship as you please. That phrase was in a letter written by Jefferson to the Kentucky Baptists guaranteeing them they would be able to worship as they wish. "...the state shall not infringe...a wall of separation is erected between church and state..."
