I never have.... edit that guess it does happen see @Lit below ..... I worry about my webers more.

If you want something hard to steal take a look at a Komodo Kamado. A 23" KK weighs in at 548LB.

I have seen 2 posts of stolen eggs on here.

Run a cable lock thru the hinge and a porch post, problem solved.

I wouldn't let the slim chance of your egg being stolen deter you from buying an egg. Unless you live in ComptonLBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

Just buy an XXL and place in a table too... They'll never get that SOB off the porch!------------------------------

It does happen, but I don't think it is often. With that being said I wouldn't put mine where they can be seen from the street.Like others here have said I wouldn't let that deter me from buying one.

Mount a security video cam looking at the egg on your porch. May deter thieves.

Get a guard dog.
I stole that pic from Mickey!

I can understand your concern. I also have 2 seasonal locations to use my egg. For the winter I store my egg in the garage, and move it out front to use. I didn't get a nest, so I built a small cart with wheels to make it portable. In the spring I will move it to the backyard patio until next winter.

Personally I have not - BUT I have a dear female friend who lives in a nice condo that backs up to a busy intersection with a 4 way stop. That means some eyes may wander and if so inclined a theft might think "I'll be back later.." Her solution which has worked now for 8 years is a cheap Weber cover for her BGE. Have there been other thefts there? You betcha! But at least the dumb sh*ts who steal stuff don't want to risk jail time for a crappy ass Weber!Budge said:I am about to purchase my first egg but am a little concerned about it being stolen. For 4-5 months a year I need to relocate it to the front porch, southern exposure so I can use it during the winter. The rest of the year it will be at the east side of the house next to our natural gas weber. The east side of our house gets drifted in with snow each winter and isn't readily accessible. This is my excuse to buy the Big Green Egg (I just needed to justify the price and purpose to myself and wife).

If they want it bad enough a POS thief will steal it. That being said they'll also steal cars, jewelry, lawn equipment, pets, etc. Did you also have to justify these expenses :-?? Pretty sure your car would be A easier to steal and B more profitable. Get one and enjoy it.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

My first LBGE was stolen right off my deck!!! I invited my father over to dinner for his first egg-speriance. After dinner he sent me to Margaritaville and left with the Egg.
Always act so that you can tell the truth about how you act.

I worried about this a lot when I first got mine because I egg in front of the house on the driveway and don't return to the garage until TOTALLY cool (learned the hard way. Trust.) My XL has never been touched, neither has my Jr...and my Jr. lives outside year-round.XL, JR, and more accessories than anyone would ever need near Olympia, WA

Yeah I was thinking this. We know a BGE at a glance and know it's greatness. I am amazed how many people still don't even know what it is when I talk to them. Also, that thing is really heavy. I would certainly go for it.mountaindewbass said:People would t know the value of this green contraption if they saw it. They would have to research it and find someone on the net that gives prices about it, then they would have to steal it. Besides that scenario, someone would need to know about green eggs and also want to steal it. You don't find many people that would want to steal others property when it comes to a green ceramic egg looking device

Here in Chicago most grills get stolen for their scrap value, not because someone needed a grill, meaning a ceramic grill is of no value to a thief looking for quick turn around, especially given the weight making it a two man job. I'd just cable lock it and make sure its covered by your homeowner/renters policy.

While stationed in Panama, my brother was grilling on a Weber. He took the steaks inside to rest, and when he went out a few minutes later the grill was gone. The hot coals were dumped on the outside of an 8 foot chain link fence - they carried the grill with the hot coals over the fence and then dumped them.

You can easily chain it down. There are anchors meant for bikes, etc, that are bolted into concrete. I use something like this for my generator so it doesn't get "borrowed" when I'm running it. I also have one in the garage to further secure it when not in use. Simple drill and bolt down install.

Buy the XL instead of L. That way, it'll be too much trouble for it's worth for the thief.

Dammit..... my attachments aren't working.....
goto the googles and search Kryptonite Motorcycle Lock..... it looks like a hockey puck with a metal loop imbedded in it. It gets bolted to the ground and then you secure your egg to it with a chain or whatever.....
