How thick of a steak can you cook cavemen style and how long.

That one was around 1" thick... I did about 3min per side and probably should have gone 4-5... It was a little rare LOLTinyfish said:How thick of a steak can you cook cavemen style and how long.
My thermapen needs new batteries so I was going my feel instead of the more reliable internal temp

I had a feeling we were due for another @hapster caveman special. It's still just as impressive as the first time I saw you do it. Awesome!Ajax, ON Canada(XL BGE, MED BGE, La Caja China #2, and the wife's Napoleon gasser)

Looks good. No Thermapen means it was a true caveman cook. It's been a while since I've done a caveman steak. I was hoping the next throw down would be a caveman something. I guess if I win the next one, I'll get to decide on the following throw down.Steven

If someone would post a caveman cook on my redneck ThrowDown. That might win. Caveman is precursor to redneck :-\" -
Now that I've seen you do it, I will have to try one, I have some super quality ribeyes in the freezer from a full roast I bought, I love the burnt crusty bark on a steak, but would have to go med rare. Thanks for the inspiration. That is definitely a breakfast of champions right there.

Thanks everyone...
I would suggest trying a caveman cook at least it once with either a nice thick ribeye or NY strip. For the hellfire portion, the steak was liberally coated with sea salt, black pepper, and ground mustard seed. Patted that into the surface good and then added a healthy coating of Tabasco Chipotle Hot Sauce.

Looks as always Hap. I feel ya on the caveman style. Seems like it would cook faster but actually slower I think! Nice playColumbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013
