A-maze-n smoker question

Do you open the vents all the way or not?

I'm not sure when I'll get to using mine, at first I wanted to try cold smoking bacon, but now I'm thinking I could wait for higher outdoor temps and try smoking up some jerky.

Yes, daisy off on the top, and the bottom draft open all the way.

Yes. And light both ends for more smoke. Best advice for AMS with pellets is the heat the smoker and pellets in oven for about 30 mins on low-med heat before lighting. Some of us had problems with the pellets going out. Since I started pre-heating the pellets and smoker I have had no issues.

What is low-med heat in an oven?  My range says low-med-high, but my oven says 170 to 550.

@Zmokin‌ I put mine in oven at like 275 degrees for 20-30 mins and then take outside to light.
