Only store in CO, is Ruff's in Golden. Nice place, visited him last year.
Probably not going to happen. I can't even imagine what the freight would be. It's cost prohibitive to send to the west coast, much less to put it on a boat. Mail order is your best bet for now.g37 said:@stlcharcoal how can I get anyone in Hawaii to order RW.

Why take just one suggestion to your dealer. S/he has a business to run and needs to make a good business decision. You want a good/better lump at a reasonable price. Both situations are not mutually exclusive. If the forum had to pick either A or B, they absolutely couldn't reach consensus ... too many different personalities and tastes. Hell, some members would still be arguing against either A or B as they are being lowered into their grave.
Either Ozark Oak or Rockwood are great choices. Look up the contact information for both companies and provide that information to your dealer. Tell him that both are great choices. Or, add a third lump that is high on the Nakedwhiz list.Fact is I'm not, I'm just telling him which get the most votes..... he asked which was the most popular and I told him I wasn't sure as down here in lowly Citrus County Florida there are no dealers for any of the 3. I told him he could benefit carrying any one or all 3.
Gave him info on all 3 yesterday
I would much rather be able to say I was glad I did than wished I had........

Keep me posted. Road trip time when there's stock.Dunedin, FL -
Guess I'm really puzzled now.
Why would he want a world wide tally instead of a local vote? If s/he simply wants to know which ones are the most acceptable to a large audience, then that tally is already available on Nakedwhiz. Ozark Oak and Rockwood were reviewed in a positive manner by 918 people ... we'll never get that many folks to vote before this evening.

From my experience I'd vote for Ozark Oak.
I also really like Humphrey's and I've always wanted to try Rockwood but couldn't due to shipping restrictions to CA.
I assume @stlcharcoal is paying attention to this thread. If so please let me know if there's somewhere close to Middleton, WI (53562) where I can try Rockwood.

Good quality lump is nice to use, but it amazes me how it's like talking politics or religion when people talk about lump. I could see it being a reason for society to break down after the zombie apocalypse.
That said, learning how to make a good fire is far more important. Wait, we fight about that too!
C'mon, I will fight anyone who thinks you can't cook good food with Cowboy!

Just bought a bag of Rockwood at the Windward ACE. $25 PLUS tax. Worked out the same as buying from Firecraft online with shipping,Chatting with the ACE guy, and talking BGE lump and Rockwood and what it's sold for there's very little mark-up. At ROSWELL ACE selling 2 for $40 means they make a Buck a bag.ACE warehouses it now and throws in their cha-ching.Hope I like it.New Albany, Ohio

I get Rockwood at Ace on Roswell Rd inside the perimeter.THEBuckeye said:I finally made the decision to try something new besides BGE Lump. In part, I bought the BGE lump to support my mom and pop dealer.
So. I go to Firecraft to order Rockwood. 24 hours later they send an auto-email to tell me it's backordered until 1/22.Is there anywhere in North Metro Atlanta where they sell Rockwood or Ozark?LBGE since 2014

Dave's Ace in Evansville would be the closest......about 25 miles south of you. Go in there and ask for my buddy Paul W.

I was using BGE lump before I switched. I like how neutral Rockwood is. I use chunks for smoke and prefer to use a neutral lump.

i burn more cowboy lump than any of the others because its convenient to buy here, it used to be scrap flooring which was actually pretty good lump, nice and clean burning. when they changed to unprocessed lumber they had some problems getting the wood to fully turn to lump, but now it seems they fixed most of those problems and it cooks just fine. i still like those maple wood lumps better because the smoke just smells better in the yard but finding a bag is sometimes impossiblenolaegghead said:Good quality lump is nice to use, but it amazes me how it's like talking politics or religion when people talk about lump. I just ordered two bags of Rockwood from my local Ace Hardware in Panama City Florida. $24.99 plus tax per bag. I usually use RO, but when I go out of town I look for different lumps to try.George Foreman? Who?Tim C. Panama City, Fl.Large, Minimax-soon

If you buy 5 bags from firecraft shipping is free, then it is only $20 a bag. That is how I buy mine. Anything over $100 and shipping is free.THEBuckeye said:Just bought a bag of Rockwood at the Windward ACE. $25 PLUS tax.
