Newbie Boston Butt

Hello All,

I threw on a 5.5 lbs boneless Boston butt @ 7:15 am this morning and a temp of 250. I just checked the IT at 6 hours and it appears to be at 145. Does this sound right? I have another 4 hours added on, do we think this baby will be done by then?

I would bump the temp to 300 or so, maybe higher, as you are not yet in the stall. Will probably want to foil in a couple hours as well

For what my comparison is right now. 10lb butt "bone in" on at 515. 1130 now. IT temp at stall 165. 274 dome temp. Grill temp 250. These are current temps. Dome was mostly 290ish but has came down a little. I'm not making any adjustments. I have a thread also on here and was givin info about upping the temp around 300. So that is what I started with.

It's more than likely in the stall. Any idea how long its been at 145°. Either way bump to 275 or 300. Won't hurt anything. Better to be done early than be done late.

It has been at 145 for at least an hour. I only have checked it the two times.

Kinda hard to screw up butt on the egg. Bump away. Some people cook straight thru at 350.

Edit. A rub that has a lot of sugar I it (brown sugar) it will burn the bark

Bump it. I highly doubt you'll be ready in 4 hrs at 250. Also, if you get close to time and still not close you can foil.

If you have to be done in 2hrs I would go ahead and wrap it up tight and bump egg temp to 350. You should see it starting to climb pretty soon
