Pizza is a tough one to pull off for a first cook!Louisianian by birth, Louisianian by death. Austinite for now...

I bought a papa murphey's pizza, and pretty much cooked it according to their directions, just on the egg. It was amazing! You get a fresh pizza without the hassle of worrying about the dough. The butt will be a great first smoke though!Large BGE in Moore, OK

Do NOT put a frozen pizza on a pizza stone unless you first thaw it out. otherwise you may crack the stone.I have had my egg for > 5 years now and am still experimenting with the dough. Sometimes I go to a local pizza shop I like and just buy the dough balls from them. Some grocery stores may carry pizza dough balls either in the deli or frozen(Whole Foods, Trader Joes or ...). Some are better than others. I have used my bread machine or just the old fashioned way to make my own. It depends on how much time you want to put into it. Find one you like and perfect it by the only real means available... test, test, test and test some more. Our motto: Fresh is ALWAYS better!!!!!

Use your food processor to make dough. It is super easy. I bought a baking steel for my xl egg and works great. Baking steel has a recipe on the web site.

BGE recommends doing several low temp cooks before doings one in excess of 350-400. This is to allow the gasket to secure itself to the ceramic. Make sure you let the lump burm long enough to let the VOCs burn of or you can end up with some foul smelling pizza. I'd go with you first instinct.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE
