I was ready to buy the XXL the first time it was mentioned they'd be available (by Thanksgiving last year), so I was stoked, fired up and ready to make four turkeys on the XXL. Well, then it was Christmas, so I figured, OK, I'll still get it and then i'll make four large prime rib roasts for friends and family and i'll be able to smoke a bunch of shoulders for New Year's Day bowl games and the Super Bowl, then it was another couple of months, and well, I got to thinking, if I could get a multigrid system for the XL and the LG ones I have, then i'll be able to make all of that meat, or at least most if it without spending almost $5K. so I did that and the want is still there but the delays and promises wore me out. NOw, with the MiniMax at a fraction of the cost and a lot more flexibility and i'll have a lot more fun
On my wish list, an XXL will always be there, sort of like a Mercedes 600, or a Shelby Super Snake. Very capable but in excess of anything i'd ever need it for.

My thoughts exactly. I don't need one but I would love to have one. If the price ever comes down I will probably buy one and mount it on a 6x8 trailer.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

A few years back most of the BBQ Competitions we did required you to cook extra meat to serve the public, we added a Stumps 223 (classic) to our arsenal. Gravity fed charcoal cooker. It allowed us to smoke an extra 80/100lbs of meat each cook. We don't use it much anymore, but handy to have when you need it.

I use wine corks with a hole drilled in them. The best part is drinking the wine.SMITTYtheSMOKER said:

@badinfluence... I couldn't agree with you more!My comment was intended to poke fun at "us" xxl owners.... definitely not intended as pretentiousness!BTW.... I'm kinda on the fence with mine regarding if I had it to do over again.Appreciate you sharing.

@55drum - it will be interesting to see how the ceramic internals (fire box, fire ring, platesetter) hold up to transport on a trailer. When I have travelled with my L or S, I cushion the internals with slices of cardboard between pieces and use wood shims to keep things from moving around. I haul mine in the bed of my truck or in the back of our SUV. I have never had anything break but I would certainly be disappointed to arrive at my destination and have broken egg parts. Keep us posted as you get your project on the road. Looks like fun!By the way, congrats on the XXL!L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN!
