Has anyone tried using the BGE meat claws as a turkey lifter? We have an 18 lb turkey for Thursday and need a viable way for removing it from our XL.

Yep, the bear/wolf claws work great to lift butts, roasts, and birds.They/Them

+1 with @DMW They work with any big hunk of meat. Only thing I use them for. I prefer to pull with a couple of forks.

I like using the V-racks with the handles that allow you to lift out.

Bear claws work well on turkey and hamsSalado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Have you noticed any of the coating coming off the v-rack?SMITTYtheSMOKER said:I like using the V-racks with the handles that allow you to lift out.

My gloves were insulated and leather...they got really greasy from picking up my butt (s).I've got a pair of rubber coated gloves now that I use for puling pork. Works good for me.

I have used both lifters as well as bear claws. Te secret to the bear claws IMHO is how you grip them. The finger or fingers behind gives you the strength.

Been using them for a few years, work great for just about anything.Dan, Columbia,Mo.

The bear claws would work great. I typically use food gloves so I don't disturb the bark/skin etc.XL BGEJoe JRBaltimore, MD

+1 on the food gloves. Something like these: http://www.amazon.com/Best-Silicone-Resistant-Grilling-Glove/dp/B00JEPE17K/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1416931989&sr=8-13&keywords=food+gloves Other varieties available. just google food gloves.

Try using a pizza peel if you have one.

Purchased a set of bear claws from Ceramic Grill Store, meat claws from BGE and porcelain v-rack from CGS. Apparently the v-rack I had was not porcelain coated but just powdered coated, hence the peeling of the coating.
