I was back through Castroville today on my way to and from Monterey Ca. Castroville is the artichoke capitol of the world, just down the road,is Gilroy, the garlic capitol of the world. Pezzini Farms is an artichoke stand that I stop by every time I am near. Why? Deep fried artichokes, that's why!! I ate one order, but I could have eaten three! No fresh ones available today due to the drought, they are a month behind, @PNWFoodie, hope this helps the homesick, I turned the bottle on the dust so if you or any others want to order online, there is the info. Enjoy fellow Eggheads.

@anton I was just about to ask you for the site info since I apparently can't read due to my crappy day. Anyway, I'm upgrading my beverage choice from beer to Scotch while I peruse the site. Thanks!

Anton, you brought a big smile to my face!I used to go TDY to that area monthly for almost 7 years, would stay in Monterey or San Juan Bautista, visiting an explosives company in Hollister. A great texas barbeque place in Castroville (can't remember the name) and a fantastic small Italian eatery in Morgan Hill (it was in a former residential house) that served me the biggest steak I've ever had.Damn, I can't believe how much my life sucks now compared to ten years ago.../:)_____________
