Looking for a Tangy BBQ Sauce?

Recipe-wise? Look for a vinegar-based sauce(carolina style). Since Manwich has ketchup, I'd trend toward Lexington style instead of Eastern.Meathead does a pretty good job with recipes.

I don't know if I would describe Blues Hog sauce as tangy, but on pulled pork it will make like your eyebrow to get that last little bit.
It is that good!Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's -

In terms of jarred sauces, I'd go with Bone Sucking Sauce over Blues Hog. BH has more of a molasses-pepper finish whereas BSS has the tang.

bone suckin sauce is extremely kid friendly. you could probably make a bbq sauce from manwich sauce
maybe some bourbon, honey, mustard, cider vinegar, and the can
) i still love that stuff
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
@NervousDadMy Elfster really liked the sauces in the below link, and I do too. I have every one of their sauces and rubs. The mild is more like Lexington style. The Vinegar is eastern style. Smokey is what I like to call Yankee sauce (my mother in-law says that, it is like the Sweet Baby Rays type). The sticky is what I call that too. The mustard is similar to SC sauce.------------------------------

I've never had manwich. What is it? I always thought of it was canned sloppy joes.
I used to make my sloppy joes with the seasoning packet and water and tomato paste per the directions.
Then we needed to get the MSG out & reduce sodium levels and so now I make my own sloppy joes from scratch.
I also try to limit leftovers, so my recipe is for a 1/2 pound of ground meat.
SLOPPY JOES
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ lb. lean ground beef
1 tablespoon dried minced onions
1 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon red pepper (cayenne)
¼ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon Worcestershire
1 8 oz. can low sodium tomato sauce
4 toasted hamburger buns
1. Brown ground beef in garlic olive oil.
2. Add tomato sauce and seasonings.
3. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
4. Serve on hamburger buns.

You can always take a bottled sauce you like and cut it with vinegar to get the tang. Works wells with sweet baby rays or the like. If you go to far add some brown sugar. I will do this a lot for ribs.

I do the same with sweet baby rays. I add a splash of whiskey, a squeeze of lemon, and some tobasco. Put in a sauce pan and bring it to a gentle boil/simmer for 15 minutes to blend the flavor and reduce it a bit. I let it cool and it's good to go for basting or putting on the table. I've added onion and garlic too if I have the food processor out. Brown sugar will increase the sticky factor for basting.Cooking on an XL and Medium in Bethesda, MD. -
I just made some of Naked Whiz's "Old South BBQ Sauce". Pretty tasty. Not a sweet sauce.
