you cooked a pizza for an hour at 500 - 550?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

I take it the hour included heat up time?
Mine hasn't seen a pizza in a long time. Once I got the Black Stone pizza oven I haven't looked back.

If the bolts are torqued right, 550 degrees shouldn't cause the bands to slip.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

I like mine well done. No, that includes warm up time for stone etc.RRP said:you cooked a pizza for an hour at 500 - 550? -
I agree it shouldn't but it did and I have them pretty tight.jhl192 said:If the bolts are torqued right, 550 degrees shouldn't cause the bands to slip. -
It ain't the pizza, my friend. Even if you DID cook one for an hour!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I have an XL, many pizza cooks 2+ hours >550 without slippage, in fact the bolts have never needed tightening.
The two hour pizzas are really tough to chew.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
I am looking for another reason to buy the XL, this might be it!

I have had it happen a couple of times and each time I torque it a little tighter. I will have to take a look to give you details but I have seen several similar comment from folks having the same problem.grege345 said:Explain pretty tight? -
Are your band bolts bent? They should be.

I have an XL and have never done pizza, but I cook my steaks at 600 to 700 and have had no problems with slippage. Now I check my bolts every so often to make sure they are tight, because they can losses up offer time from contracting from temps.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Does this look tight enough? The bottom band was the one that slipped when I raised the lid.Carolina Q said:Are your band bolts bent? They should be. -

No it doesn't look tight enough. The bolts will bend and the two flanges, in many cases, will darn near touch each other.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -
