Tuna Steaks!

Decided to try out the frozen Kroger brand tuna steaks tonight. Chopped red potatoes in the foil with olive oil, crushed red pepper flakes and garlic salt. Tuna steaks were marinated overnight in a soy sauce, chopped cayenne, butter, and garlic bath. Cooked them raised direct at 400 until done. Sorry no plated pics.
Midway through dinner, SWMBO stopped mid sentence and said, "These are really good tuna steaks. I'd like for you to make these again." :-bd

@SGH this was my first time making tuna steaks. Before this I had only tried tuna steak once in my life about a month ago. I'm a fan now!Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

@SGH I was spoiled..the first time I tried tuna steaks they were fresh caught in New Orleans! The frozen ones will work for now and maybe we'll splurge every now and then on fresh. Bc I agree fresh was a lot better!Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

What kind of internal temp did you shoot for? Did you buy them in the frozen food section?LBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

I didn't really have an internal temp in mind. I want to say 125 is about right? Yes I bought them in the frozen food section at kroger for $6.99 a pack. They came in a purplish bag.grege345 said:What kind of internal temp did you shoot for? Did you buy them in the frozen food section?

An overnight brine for fish sounds excessive, but they look great and if What's-Her-Name was happy, you're Golden!

They had to thaw overnight so I figured what the heck. Plus we aren't huge fish tasting fans so it worked out. And yes..if she's happy I'm happy!Botch said:An overnight brine for fish sounds excessive, but they look great and if What's-Her-Name was happy, you're Golden!

Looks great @fenc0407, the problem I have with fresh tuna is I eat it before it makes it on the Egg.

I love grilled tuna. If you like it more rare, like i do, just do it direct 1-2 min/side. it'll get nice quick sear.1 LBGE in Chapel Hill, NC
