Can I FTC pulled pork after it's been pulled?

For how long? We will be tailgating at a Jimmy Buffett concert Saturday. No way to reheat, and I don't want to have to pull the pork at the tailgate (if the consensus is it's the only way to go, I'll consider it). If I pull it right before leaving (around noon or so) how long will it be good for? Concert is at six.

I would think it would be really hard to keep warm that long after being pulled. Maybe heating some bricks and putting in the cooler would help. I'd probably just pull at the concert.

Agreed it will be hard to keep warm after pulling. I would wrap in foil then in a towel then in a cooler it will still be hot when you are ready to pull it1 XXL BGE, 1 LG BGE, 2 MED. BGE, 1 MINI BGE, 1 Peoria custom cooker Meat Monster.Clinton, Iowa

I think the issue an FTC butt is likely at 200º when it hits the cooler, the outside is more like pit temps - 225º-250º?Un=pulled in a well insulated cooler it will hold the heat for 6 hours easy. if it is pulled, you can bet your temp is closer to <150º when you FTC it. Over 6 hours you could be in the "danger" zone for more than 4 hours. Not good, well, not safe. @shtgunal3 idea of bricks is good - not sure you could get them hot enough to keep the meat above 140º for that length of time. Not what you want to hear, but - I'd pull at the event.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

That's what I thought but figured I'd check. I guess I'll be pulling pork, or maybe slicing a turbo brisket at the concert. Not too worried as there will be enough alcohol to kill anything.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

That was my next suggestion - use a bourbon or more neutral vodka based (say 75%) sauce - heck that would sanitize pulled pork left on the kitchen table for two days.....Tjcoley said:That's what I thought but figured I'd check. I was getting ready to call it a night a while ago, and stumbled across Cool Hand Luke on cable. Had a failure to communicate going to bed or watching the rest of the movie.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

Nothing to do with pork, but Buffet is, without a doubt, the BEST concert I have ever been to! Enjoy!XL, JR, and more accessories than anyone would ever need near Olympia, WA

I wouldn't pull pork at a Jimmy Buffet tailgate....EYEs UP! The real show may "flash" buy in an instant! :-bd
How about this...cook it at home, wrap it well in foil. Then do one of those engine block reheats on the way to the concert. Find some place that isn't too hot in your engine compartment but will take care of things slowly on your way there. Google the Alton Brown Myth Busters Turkey Dinner cook for ideas!
I'd pull at home though. It's so easy to pull after you cook it... you wait to pull it and you risk it getting too cool and being a lot of work. Throw some liquid in with it, tightly wrap it in foil, and figure out a way to warm it slowly. You'll think of something...

Ok, how about this. Plan to finish the pork or brisket just before we leave for the tailgate. Pull and vac seal while hot, then place it in a well insulated beverage cooler with hot water. A poor man's sous vide. I figure that will keep it hot for a few hours.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA
