I am planning the home for my upcoming egg. How stable is the XL egg sitting on a good solid flat surface without side support. Example: sitting in a built in kitchen without a "hole" in the counter--open front style. I dont plan on moving it once it is in place. There will be no wheeling it down the sidewalk. My neighbors can come over i will gladly feed them here. BUT, have you ever had it tip--at all. I do have fairly active boys but they are not super destructive types. I do not want to buy the nest just for the time period it takes to finish the kitchen. I can easily put a table together. I was going to simply put it on some stacked pavers in the corner so i can use it while the kitchen is finished. Thoughts?

Shouldn't be an issue. A object at rest stays at rest

Still 5 canoes and 2 kayaks?
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

My XL was steady as a rock while on a 24" paver in the table. My medium in a table nest seems to be a bit less so. Will let you know about the XL and table nest in the next couple of days as I have the table stained and the neighbor lads will help me put it back together soon. It's handy to have a couple of high school athletes nearby. All you have to do is promise them pulled pork and just about any little job is done in a flash.

I have a large. So not quite the same. But I did this because I was afraid my kids or their friends might pull it over on them one day. It's a curved deck railing, powder coated steel screwed into the counter before the rock was put on. It fit the large perfectly. Enjoy your XL.Fish, Hunt, Cook....anything else?

I would think the XLBGE would be rock solid, it has twice the weight of the MBGE, yet is only a couple of inches taller, in other words, 100% more weight yet only 10% more height, creating a very low center of gravity. My MBGE in a table nest has nothing around it and if the wind is right it has scared me a couple of times when it wobbles.Use of a table nest allows for really easy clean outs, hopefully you have one planned into your new kitchen.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I really like the railing idea. I will have to look around for something that fits. Thanks a lot for the responses, i can rest easier nowColumbus, Ohio--A Gasser filled with Matchlight and an Ugly Drum.

It's been sitting on two wooden boxes for almost three years while I built my table. I have never been worried that it would tip over.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE
