$8 Royal Oak

Walmart has 17# bags of Royal Oak for $8 in NE Georgia.

Comments

  • Good price. That's all I've used, but broke down and ordered some Rockwood and Ozark Oak to try, everyone here raves about it, I'm curious if it's that much better than the RO, especially at $.50 a pound for the RO.
  • Tractor Supply had the same a week or so ago. Murphy store was out when I left, so don't know if it's still going on.

Saw that deal up at the Dawsonville, GA Walmart.  Got 4 bags.  RO is the best value for daily cooks IMO.

  • My daughter convinced me to return to Walmart and grad the last few bags; we then went to Home Depot and showed them the reciept.  If I'm not mistaken there may have been another 10% off the matched price!  I should be good to go for sometime now.

Watch that $8 RO..I bought 4 bags from Wally World in SE MI at the beginning of the season and have had nothing but tiny little pieces out of the bags..

I got a bag of Ozark Oak and the difference (size, burn time) is unbelievable..

I've been a big fan of RO due to the price and availability, but the stuff truly is hit and miss in my experience..I'd start with 2 lbs of it..cook for half an hour..and have virtually nothing left in the firebox at the end..so..even tho it's .5/lb..you go through a lot more of it - at least in my experience.

I checked my Walmart.  They had a huge stock of Kingsford and Matchlight, 2 small bags of RO and no sale pricing.  Back to HD for the $12.97 bag (which I did not really need anyways).  Qer's in the know up here don't shop at Walmart I guess.

I have to say, the RO I am getting here has huge pieces, I like it a lot.  On the other hand now that I have my small, I am going through a lot less lump

I hit 2 Walmarts on Friday, Windard Pkwy and Peachtree Pkwy and neither had royal oak.

  • If you take any advertisement to HomeDepot they will beat it by 10%, so grab a flyer from Walmart or tractor supply and head to Home Depot they keep plenty of royal oak on hand and you get it for $7.19 per 17# bag, I printed the web as on

    http://m.tractorsupply.com/en/store/royal-oakreg;-charcoal-176-lb-104652499--1?cm_vc=-10005

And had this Home Depot page confirming the beating the competition price by 10% on hand just in case

They said ok and loaded my pallet into the bed of my truck
