How many of the items will not work the second time you use it?

My Yeti dealer ( oh, and Egg Dealer) told me about the new Softsides Yeti. $250 price. I will stay with my Softsides Polar Bears. They work very good along with my Yetis.

I read today they broke 4 million on kickstarter:

The problem I have with this is they don't tell you anything about the actual cooler (how long it will keep ice, insulation, seal, etc).  It may perform like a $20 cooler with $160 worth of gadgets attached.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

This is what I'm expecting. A cheap cooler with lots of gadgets that don't last long enough to merit the costs.

That's pretty cool, but I tend to shy away from things like that.  Too many gadgets all in one for me.
What happens when the radio goes out?  Do you chuck the whole cooler and buy a new one?  Do you take your cooler to a radio repair shop?  I do like the idea of putting a bottle opener built in to the cooler.  that's useful and shouldn't fail before the cooler fails.  Wider better rolling wheels are nice as well, but I would still prefer to take a separate radio and separate blender, and charge my phone while in the car.

But hey, that's just me.  If this fancy cooler floats your boat, go for it.

I agree with all of you, all in one is typical not the best at anything. My buddy just told me he actually ordered one on the early bird deal so I will get to check it out at least. The bottle opener is the best idea, reminds me of the old metal coolers.

I like this idea quite a bit - and he'll end up bought out by Coleman or someone for creating a premium cooler line that is for folks that want to go boating, to the beach or have a tailgate.  If you listen to who he is targeting with his sales pitch - I think he has them figured out.

It's definitely a different use case than a Yeti was designed for...  A tailgate lasts as long as the game, afternoon on the beach == No need for 5 days of ice, etc.

I'm close to getting one 'cause I like to party.

    What are you drinking... now!

The only thing I'm suspect on is the blender....anyone who has made frozen drinks know you need a good blender to turn ice into smooth slush, and most standard AC blenders burn out pretty quickly if you don't get a high quality one.   I have used battery powered blenders before and they tear through batteries and don't work that well.  That blender might work good for bananas and yogurt, or stirring sugar in your iced tea...not there's no way it will make a good frozen drink for very long.

    You need one of these if you want to do any serious blending without a power cord;

I do like the look of the cooler, though.  They should lose the blender, drop the price by $40, and they'd have a great product.

I agree with your comments on a blender, for proper ice crushing, it needs to be quality and have the power to deliver.  With that said, I know a guy who rigged a PTO on his rock-crawler Jeep to a blender drive on his front bumper.  I think it might be the only Chevy V-8 350 powered blender on the planet.

I like the ingenuity. But, the entire demo focused on the unique features. Never hear a whisper of it will keep cold for a week etc. And FWIW that's kinda the purpose of a Yeti or Pelican brand cooler (not comparing apples to apple's). Not knocking it because I did like it a lot!

I thought it was pretty cool - oops!
Apart from the occasional  back yard bash, when I need to keep beer and wine chilled, I don't fish anymore or spend weeks at the edge of civilization, so I'll pass. But it is quite neat.
I used to ascribe to the feelings of Dr. Samuel Johnson, who is purported to have said, "In fishing, one has a rod and a line with a hook at one end and a fool at the other!" That was until I went sport fishing with my FIL - "hours of boredom interspersed with moments of frenzy" was how he put it. He was cool too.
