I have and use both for different cooks. That being said if I could keep only one it would be the Woo. It just fits my style of cooking very well. But I do use them both. I feel a man should have one of each for various reasons. You should have kept your Woo my friend.

Thanks SGH, I really think it helps. I'd imagine it's great with long cooks for adding lump when needed. I'd like to get an Adjustable rig but they are very expensive at this point. I'm still learning a bunch so I'll gradually increase my toys and cooks.....

I know we all have different opinions and cooking needs but I honestly get more use out of the Woo. Like I said I both own and use the AR but 95 percent of the time I use the Woo and plate setter or just the Woo to raise the grid to gasket level for a direct cook. It a excellent accessory in my opinion. I recommend having one of each. Again congratulations on the new toy.

@SGH‌ I saw your posts and it made me think twice. As someone who likes less clutter I decided to unload it.
The woo and extender went to a Canadian egger passing through Seattle on Sunday.
It will be missed.... But love the AR and you can use the stock grid on the AR which is identical to the woo (+ a few raised inches)

The Woo was my first purchase for the egg and I can honestly say that I use it for about 95% of my cooks. It's worth every penny I paid for it.

My thinking is that I will get a Woo for now. Then in the future when we end up getting my father in law an egg, I might pass the woo and PS down to him and buy myself an AR.

If it went to a fellow egger that was mighty generous of you. At least it will still be getting used. I can understand that wanting not to be cluttered as well. I hope your friend enjoys the Woo.

  • What do you have to get to have multiple grid cooking. The rig extender, too?

I'm not really sure my friend. All I have is the rig and grids. I don't want to tell you something wrong. I honestly don't know. Sorry. Maybe other who know will jump in.

I don't know if this was what you were asking but this is my set up if you can make it out in the pic. I don't have the other accessory that goes with the AR.imageimage

You will love the Woo.  I use it almost all the time on both the medium and the XL.  I also have an AR for the XL.  In fact, the big brown truck just dropped off a spider yesterday.  I've been using the Woo to hold the indirect piece (17.5" stone) on the lower ring, and place the AR on top of the standard SS grid on the top ring of the Woo for multilevel cooks. These are all great tools, and each has great utility.  It does take some effort to visualize exactly what each does, and how they are best utilized.  Add to the complexity that the Large AR is different than the XL AR, and the options are different as well.  Talk with Tom at CGS for clarification.

Tonite I did a spatchcock chicken on the medium Woo, and even as I type I'm seasoning a new Lodge cast iron griddle for the medium on the Woo in the XL.  I guess I do use the Woo a lot...

    Enjoy!!!
