I will add that I have successfully used RO since I got my egg 6 months ago. Just for grins I ordered 100lbs of Rockwood and OO and it arrived yesterday. My wife says to the dog, "looks like Daddy is going to open a smokehouse.". Will report back objective data in a month or so.
Richmond and Mathews County, VA. Large BGE, Weber gas, little Weber charcoal. Vintage ManGrates. Little reddish portable kamado that shall remain nameless here.  Very Extremely Stable Genius.

I like Royal Oak, I do not like cowboy lump. I am going to try Rockwood soon.

I've used BGE several times.... good, but pricey. Bought Kamado Joe several times, big pieces, very good. Bought Royal Oak just once, and so far after two cooks I wonder if it was a bad batch. Good price, but lots of ash, fire went out on overnight cook, etc. Am going to try Wicked Good next time and see, price is comparable to Kamado Joe's.

After reading many threads regarding RO being "bad", I just can't really get on the bandwagon.  It is charcoal and it burns.  There are others out there that are better and there are others out there that are worse, but if it is the only one you can get, use it.  The price is better than many and if you wait for the VOC's to burn off it does not impart a bad flavor to your cook.  I would love to get Rockwood, Ozark Oak or some of the others that are not available where I live.  I would consider an internet purchase of some of the better ones but have heard too many stories of bags full of dust being delivered.  Hopefully someday I can put together a pallet purchase with some local guys, but so far no one is willing to step up to the plate with a firm commitment.
