Issues with trying to post

I am attempting to post, but the formatting bar above the text entry box is greyed out. Anyone know how to fix this? I also note that the site keeps signing me out after I try to create a new topic. All of this is on an iPad.

    Some of the issues are caused by the hosting service (vanilla forums), and some by infreequnt attention by the moderator(s).

    I have problems with the site all the time, particularly from mobile devices.  It signs me in, it signs me out, I can't post, etc.
