Bessingers BBQ(Thomas) in West Ashley off of 17.The other brothers in the area are good too. I'm partial, but that's due to the fact that I've been enjoying it since I was in the womb.

Fiery Ron's Home Team are some nice guys they cook on some Langs.

Home Team is the best. Charleston BBQ is very underwhelming on the whole, but Home Team has a good thing going on... they do a bunch of good daily specials. They cook on Langs like mentioned above. Their Instagram is really good to follow.

Thanks for all of your replies. Going to check out Home Team and Bessingers when I am in Charleston in a couple weeks. I have had a big learning curve using this forum, I originally wrote a brief description of my egg history and included photos but for some reason the way I posted did not get approved or go through correctly. Will try again later. Really enjoy this forum and have learned so much from lurking here. Glad to finally be a member.

If you want real BBQ, try driving outside of Charleston. Scott's in Hemingway is as authentic as it comes and probably less than two hours away. Big D's is there as well and is great if you want BBQ and sides.XL and M BGE.

Scott's burned down around Thanksgiving last year. Not sure if they have reopened yet. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2014/02/04/271526910/when-his-pit-burned-down-a-southern-bbq-master-took-hogs-on-tourJoe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

Scotts is a different kind off BBQ than Charleston. It's Eastern NC style, not mustard.Tigerbdog said:If you want real BBQ, try driving outside of Charleston. Which is why I said real BBQ.Fair enough. Then just say BBQ. My Dad's family is from the area surrounding Lumberton, NC. Mustard-based is number 2 for me, since I was born in Charleston.
