Hello all.......
I got a large BGE that was broken in a move. The guy was tossing it but said I could have the parts. All I needed was the bottom shell. Had it laying around for a while and finally sprung for the base. I'm now kicking myself for not getting it sooner. This thing ROCKS!!! Been using it as a grill for a few weeks, then got the platesetter to do some smoking.
I now know what all the "hype" is on this thing. It's an amazing piece of equipment!! I have an offset wood smoker, a Masterbuilt electric, a Weber kettle, and a gas burner. The egg is the most fun thing I've cooked on. Easy to learn, excellent results. I've got a way to go but this is a good time. Ribs have always been my specialty, and I've turned out some great ones on this. Got a small brisket to try tomorrow.
Been reading the forum for a few weeks. Got some great info. Going to rebuild part of my deck into a table for it.

Please say Columbia SC. There was the exact deal on cl there. I hounded that guy for three days and he kept saying someone was coming for it. I wanted so badly to attempt to persuade him to jump whoever it was but that damn cricket on my shoulder kept me from it. Glad to hear it went to a good home (if you are that person) and now show us some cooks!Slumming it in Aiken, SC.
