Pizza...sorry no pics

We celebrated my mothers birthday yesterday at our house and we made pizza on the Egg at her request. I'm sorry for the lack of pictures, I was so busy cooking and people were eating faster than I could keep up with, and pictures were an after thought. I do cheat a bit as we have a great pizza place down the road that we buy our dough from and it's so good I haven't taken the time to try making my own. We did three pies, one half cheese and half pepperoni, one margarita, and one meat. It was the first time we tried a margarita pizza and thought I might share an easy recipe for those of you that have a COSTCO close by. We bought their small marinated mozzarella balls for a pasta dish and I decided to use them and the oil they are marinated in for my pie sauce. I worked the dough out, used the oil from the mozzarella balls as the sauce (added a bit of garlic), put down some shredded mozzarella, then the mozzarella balls halved, then sliced tomato and cooked it on the grill. After it came off I added fresh basil. I cook my pies with the plate setter legs down, four rolled up balls of aluminum foil squashed down to about an inch thick equally placed around the plate setter, then my pizza stone set onto the foil balls which give me some air space under the stone. This pie was the best I have ever made! It was a huge hit. Sorry for no pics, promise some for the next cook.

They sound really great. Cool tip on the marinated Mozza balls for the margherita pizza. I haven't made one of those but definitely something I want to try. I wasn't sure if the basil should go on before or after you cook it (or sometime mid cook).Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Put the basil on after the cook, it just gets grey and brown if you cook it on there and it looks nasty.Bristow Virginia XL&Mini One of the best feelings in life is watching other people enjoy the food I cooked!
