New Egg Nest Question

Ok I received my egg tonight and after a couple hours I have it and the nest assembled. My question is when I open the LBGE lid with an empty egg the egg tilts in the nest towards the open lid. Is this normal? All my bolts are tight and I believe everything is assembled per instructions.

  • Did you open it with the fire box and ring in? The added weight adds to the stability. The egg should sit level in the nest, open or closed. The carpet doesn't look like it is too soft and would cause an open egg to lean.

It looks correct. Does it do it with the firebox and fire ring installed? Those are heavy and need to be in there. Make sure the egg is fully seated in the nest.

  • The fire box and ring we're not installed. I am having trouble getting the egg all the way down on the cross bars. It sits about 1/4 inch above all the way around. I was doing it by myself and those rubber tips are driving me insane. Any adjustment and they come off. May get the wife to help this afternoon.
  • I would ditch the rubber tips. I 've never used them on mine as they were always a pain in the ass. Also the egg tends to naturally want to sit a little bit above the nest put if you give it a downward push it should seat fully.
  • Maybe I was tired last night. I got it seated this morning and seems like it quit tilting even without the fire box and ring. It will be more stable with those installed.

If you still need to relax the fit, put a big washer in between the struts at the four points where they bolt together. I had a similar issue with my small.
