Butcher paper

Could someone tell me what the difference is between the butcher paper people are using to wrap briskets in , and plain old brown kraft paper ?

Just use pink or white unwaxed butcher paper.

I don't know if it's kraft paper or not. I picked mine up in Austin where Franklin BBQ get's their paper.

Cant seem to find "Butcher paper".
Can find brown kraft paper at wally world. Looks to be about the same stuff brown paper grocery bags used to be made of.

Just wondering ?

I think it should work, but lets see if someone chimes in. I'm sure you could find something at a Restaurant Depot.

Depending on where you get your brisket, ask them if they will give you a yard or two off the roll. Evidently butcher paper will burn at around 350ºF (or so my Safeway butcher tells me). As we smoke in the 225-275ºF range all is good. He plastics brisket and gives me some for wrapping, which I have only done once.

Have no idea what the difference is, but assume butcher paper is approved for food use, not sure good old Kraft is.

Before the Eggs I always used lg paper sacks to cook turkey in the large box thing in the kitchen.

I think kraft paper is similar to unwaxed butcher paper, but kraft paper is not necessarily approved to be food safe. I guess it could have chemicals in it or on it.

I always thought butcher paper is kraft paper. i got a big roll at Staples. never had any problems.

I bought some butcher paper at GFS, but I'm pretty sure it has wax on it since it smells like a box of crayons. I used it anyways to wrap my last brisket and didn't seem to leave anything waxy. Is that the concern with waxed butcher paper?
