HOMERUN!!! Pork butt

Had to do a pork butt for my company Christmas party. Feeding roughly 12 people. Local Piggly Wiggly had a 2 pack, roughly 23lbs of pork. I used the smaller one, figured its about 10lbs. Had to go help Santa clause out and grab a gift while the kids were gone (first pic). Anyway. Got home around 9. Mixed my rub. Which is a knockoff of the motherships pulled pork sandwiches rub. Set up to run at 300 degrees indirect. Put it on about 10pm, with apple wood and jack Daniels flavored chips. I forgot to take a pic of it prior to running it. Anyway, at 2 pm I checked the temp, steady at 300. Inserted my thermometer it read about 138. At 3am it was at 154. At 4 it was 168. 5am it was 173. At 6 it was at 185. Took it off at 630. Wrapped it with more rub and some apple juice. Took it to work. Put it on a webber about 9am. It had dropped to 165. At 10:15 it was at 195. Took it off. Opened the foil. Drained the grease. At 11:15. Put it on a hot fire for 7 min each side and had an awesome bark. Took it off. Let it rest and served it at 12. My boss said it was the best he'd ever had. HOMERUN!!!!

Good looking ride. I have a Club Car Precedent but I don't play golf. It's for cruising the neighborhood.

Looks like 2 home runs to me...the ride and the butt. Congrats !

I am always impressed with those that are willing to get up in the middle of the night to tend to these. I am way too lazy to do that. Thanks for the report and congrats on a great job.Alan in LA (Lower Alabama that is)"If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before!"
