Bolts not staying tight?

Ok... so BGE has agreed to replace my base and band assembly because of my slipping band issue and that's awesome but I'm not replacing it till spring when I receive all the parts (freight isn't covered, so I have to wait for dealers next shipment) . So in the meantime I'm continuing to use what I have and noticed tonight after my 700 deg pizza cook that my bolts were very loose and could easily be turned and retightened. Is it normal for carriage bolts to loosen after each high heat cook? This is why my band's were slipping.
If band bolts shouldn't loosen any ideas why they would loosen like that?? Maybe I should double bolt them but I don't think i'll get a new bolt around the already bent bolts that are there?
Sorry for beating this to death but this is driving me crazy and there is light at the end of the tunnel as warranty is replacing my defective parts!!!

I think the band bolts are 5/16" NC. Get two extra nuts and double them up after you have tightened the first one.

I've found that the XL bands stretch more on hot cooks. Makes sense when you think about it eh?

If the metal bands are stretching under heat this may be your problem. I would prefer to stay with the old bands at this point...at a certain point they will not strech. Why start the whole process over with new bands?

Tyr and put lock washers on the bolts then put the nuts back on2 Large Eggs and a Mini 2 Pit Bulls and a Pork shoulder or butt nearby and 100% SICILIANLong Island N.Y.

my bands still stretch after more than 5 years. doing a high temp sear, everything loosens up. just have not done anything about it. will try double bolting.Castle Rock, CO - always a Husker

I have yet to do a thorough test of just how much metal stretches after time. Doubling up on the bolt/nuts will not help this problem, as the nut are not unscrewing.

I bet no matter how much you tighten them the metal band will expand more than the ceramics, certainly would not recommend tightening when they are. How are the winds? Gerhard

Winds are pretty high overnight and today,they are gusting to 130 km/h at times.12 degrees celcius today and back down to minus 2 tomorow... make no wonder my bands are f**ked up!!!
