Micky's rub question????

In the recipe it call for ancho chili powder, at HEB I found ancho chili pepper, is this the same thing or should I keep looking? Thanks!!!

    Same thing.

    Semantics. He wants you to use Ground Ancho Chili pepper, which you have.

    Yep, that's the stuff I use in a lot of my recipes. Add some to your chili next time if you don't already. Gives it another depth of flavor. And if you measure some out in the palm of your hand, make sure to wash real well with soap, especially before wiping your face. Same goes with chipotle chili powder. Don't ask me how I know.

    Works on just about anything. It was a tad sweet for my taste, so I added extra cayenne. May need a bit more salt for beef, but you can easily adjust it for your taste.

    If you like it you have to find in the bulk area of Central Market, so much less $$$.

  • Thanks to @Mickey and his coffee rub, discovered ground Ancho peppers. Bought it through Penzey's, takes everything I previously used no-name chilli powder for to a whole different level. Great stuff....
