15.75 inch grid

Why is getting a 15.75 inch cooking grid like pulling teeth! My local dealer Ace Hardware says they don't exist. Is their any web site that you can purchase BGE stuff from to avoid this middle man? Frustrating...

Ideas appreciated...

Have fun! I'm sure I'll be the first of many to recommend this site.

(I got the spider and R&B combo.)

Why do you need that precise size? Just ask for a medium grid. 15.75" is the size of the SS grid for the medium and if your dealer can't get that, he isn't a very good dealer.
  • I purchased the Moo2 to raise my cooking grid, for everyday cooks. I told them that the 15.75 is now standard for the Medium green egg. She says I was lied to, and the 15" is standard. I convinced her to contact the "people" she orders from, to find an answer. We'll see what I get.
  • Sumoconnell, I called the link you gave me, they don't carry them either...
  • Why isn't their a site....;-)
  • No luck at my BGE dealer for the 15.75 medium cooking grid. She says she needs a part number...anyone?

    This is craziness!

She's ignorant. Find a new dealer. The egg is advertised as 15 but is really around 16. The old porcelain grid was 15 but the new SS one is 15.75. I had one and verified it by measuring. Even better, go ahead and order it from her. When it arrives, take a measuring tape with you and verify this right in front of her. "FYI, ma'am, have a GREAT DAY!"

I just measured and mine is 15.75 so disregard previous statement.

There is a BGE site, although the 2013 catalog doesn't seem to have a SS grid for any egg in it.
In 2012, the size of the MBGE changed slightly. I noticed this when talking to Tom at CeramicGrill Store. There was a 15" porcelain and a 15.75"SS. He was unaware of it at the time. Since, they have the Woo with the right options.
I think all mediums now use the 15.75" SS grid. The BGE code hasn't changed as far as I know it is still 15SS and you will get a 15.75" grid.
The CI grid is still 15". I also noticed on a friends MBGE his 15" porcelain grid sits on top of the setter feet when the setter is legs up. My 15.75" SS grid actually sits so the outer ring sits over the setter legs making it very stable.
I think if you order a 15SS you will get what you want.

15SS is the model number on the BGE site. Unless they changed the size since March of this year(which I doubt since the info on the BGE site 2 years old) my info is correct. Just as Skiddymarker said.

It's 15.5" and just $10 plus shipping.  The BGE grid is a little heavier and nicer, but this is big enough to be a replacement for the 15.75" if needed.  It will work fine as a second level, which is why I got it.

I bought a Weber 15" grill at Ace Hardware. Slapped on some SS bolts to raise my grid.
