Welcome to the Swamp.....GO GATORS!!!! -
I just use hot pads, and real fast.
-
Welding gloves all the way. Make sure you have a place to set it down. The wife was mad at me for an entire summer due to a bald patch in the grass caused by a hot plate setter. You don't want that kind of pain sir.
-
@travisstrick and @Mud_Pig thanks I will try that. @chris123stock I wasn't fast enough @Dave_in_Florida I like the idea and always like to make sure I am being safe but dang man those things are $160!

Practice by putting your palms on a fry pan on low then slowly bring it to high. After a few weeks your hands will be leather and you can save money on gloves. That or buy an AR.Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

I have a pair of gloves I bought at the mothership, The Pit Mitt® BBQ Glove is made of aramid fibers and they will allow you to pick up a very hot plate setter and figure out where you want to set it down and you might feel them get warm.

I used my plate setter lifter last week reverse searing steaks. The heat coming off the plate setter was curling the hair on my hand. If you're holding something that's nuclear hot and can calmly contemplate how freaking hot it is, then that's the product for me.Flint, Michigan
