On Craigslist someone is selling this
X-Large Big Green Egg w/nest
extra smoking stones/racks
pizza stone
For $1,000.00
From the pic it looks new and it has several racks along with it. What's the main things I'd need to watch out for.

Is the lifetime warranty only on the first owner, or on the BGE itself?XL BGE

Warranty is only applicable to the first buyer. $1,000 is not a good price especially when you have to pay for a new firebox which I will assure you you will in time.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

@Seanr7, you can find a new one for that price.

Seems expensive...Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Seems expensive but what deals on new ones in your area are available?
You really have to look carefully at the accessories. Does it have shelves? Is the rack an adjustable rig from CGS?
No harm in offering $750 or $800 and seeing if he'll go lower.

Also look for anything that might be missing or in need of replacement. As RRP mentioned, a new firebox can add a lot of cost. Thermometers are outrageous for what you get (I think they're about $40-45. New bands are over $100. A new cap is $25. Those things add up quickly. And I agree with the others that $1000 is expensive to begin with for a used XL.

Folks usually ask to much got used stuff... No warranty... Something to consider. A cracked base and you could have had a new one.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Not sure where you're located and totally depends on your area, but you might be surprised if you really do some legwork with the dealers in your area. I know a neighbor bought a new XL with plate setter for less than that, albeit without the nest since he was building a table.

personally, for me to not get a brand new egg the price had to be at least 50% off.

How about $400 for a medium in Central PA? Just saw one in Hanover, PA on CL. Looks to be in good shape. Timing is not right for me or I'd take a look.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

Price is most important with a used. 1k for an xl is way too much.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

After reading that the warranty doesn't extend to the second owner I'm out. I'd have to get it at 50% to take on 100% of the foreseeable warranty issuesXL BGE
