Looks nice. That side on shot is inspiring!CheersB_BFinally back in the Badger State!

The side shot shows the layered goodness. All the flavors melted together. No wonder others praise this type of cook on the egg.

Looks delish! Curious as to why the side of the crust darkened so much more than the bottom...?_____________

When I spread the crust out in the skillet, it only went up the sides half way. I filled the skillet all the way to the top with ingredients the dark portion is cheese in direct contact with the skillet. It was actually chewy goodness.

Method? Want to try this ASAP

@BJax I think Zippylip gets original credit for coming up with the recipe and method, the post was mushroom lovers or something like that. Not sure what @jccbone62 did, but we do them at 425 for about 30-35 minutes. Here's our first one
And another one

I got the idea from others on this website. But it finally dawn to me that baking in the egg is pretty much like baking in an oven. I used a recipe that I used for the kids while making deep dish pizza in the oven. I used Jiffy mix pizza dough, store bought sauce, Sargento cheese, ground beef, and peperoni all in a Cast Iron Skillet. Nothing fancy but it was an experiement in the egg. It worked great. I haven't worked up to using any of the dough recipe that others use on the site yet but I will get there. My suggestion to others that want to try it in the egg, jump in and just do it.

Oh that looks soooo good. I'm drooling on my keyboard. SWMBO loves thin crust so I don't get to do these often.

What size is your skillet? I see you have an xl. I'd like to find a ci deep dish without a handle as I can't bring myself to destroy a good skillet. Great looking pie by the way.I cook. I eat. I repeat. Thornville, Ohio

The crust was Jiffy Pizza Crust Mix. Just add water, mix and let it sit. The instructions are on the box. Warning, too much water and the dough will be sticky. If that happens, just add a little flour and roll it around until it isn't sticky anymore. Nothing fancy....Cookinbob said:Crust recipe?

My skillet was a 12" lodge that I bought from Walmart. Nothing fancy but functional.Hibby said:What size is your skillet? I see you have an xl. I'd like to find a ci deep dish without a handle as I can't bring myself to destroy a good skillet. Great looking pie by the way.
