After doing the meet the teacher night, I ran to the store real quick for some dinner supplies...
Some chicken kahbobs for the girls, a big sirloin steak for me, some fresh tomatoes, and romaine hearts for grilling.
I made a white wine vinaigrette for brushing the romaine hearts. Everything turned out so tasty...

Looks great! I see you even served it on the fine china.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

Delicious looking cook - can you give any more information on grilling the romaine? Never thought to do that ... and would go over well here, too.

Hap, have you ever used campaign vinegar? It really takes vinaigrette up a notch.

Never used champagne vinegar... Have to try some.
@StlScott
Just the vinaigrette and brush it one the romaine and let it sit a while. Next time I will pour a little down into the leaves as well. Just cut the top 2" off of the leaves and remove the loose ones on the outside. Leave the stem end on so it stays together. Coat, let it sit a bit, and then on the grate direct. Turn about every minute or so until you get a nice char to taste.
I'm sure Italian dressing would work as well.
Next time I'm thinking about finishing it with some crumbled blue cheese and baconMSV Chill Spot

Hey Hap,
Quick question, does some of the romaine hold up to the heat? Are just the outer leaves wilted? Curious how the texture turned out?
Thanks!
-
The outer leaves do wilt some, but the flavor is great when you take a bite of them with the inner more firmer leaves
