What's the best pizza peel?

Personal preference is the key here, but I prefer my metal peel for putting the pizzas on and taking them off, but use my wooden peel to slice and serve from.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

I use one very much like the one aboveSalado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Super peel works great if you don't mind spending the extra cash.

Well floured wood peel is my preference. I find the metal peel is too slippery when taking pizzas off.Mamaroneck

also a well floured wood peel here, the flour works into the unfinished wood over time and the knife grooves seem to help the pie release the more you use the peel. not a fan of the varnished wood peels

Forget the pizza peels....get 2 of these and you will be set...make the pies on these and cook on them as well...many other uses...

wood for me. just a pinch of semolina prevents sticking. you can build the pie on it, transfer to the stone and then off again. slice the pie right on it too. and use it to serve if desired. flour is nowhere near as good as semolina. neither is cornmeal.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

If you go with a metal peel like the one already pictured you will find it is only natural to "choke up" on the handle, which also means that your hand will be wrapped around the sometimes slippery metal portion of that handle. After I dropped a pizza due to that I bought a simple golf club wrap so as to provide a good non-slip grip for my peel. Trust me...after you have watched a pizza side off on your deck then you will probably do the wrap thing as well!Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

I use one like the metal peel above. Have never tried wood though. Like the metal so far but can be slippery with too much corn meal.

For what it's worth, I just bought one last week and used it for the first time over the weekend. It's a wood one that I got from Amazon, and it worked perfectly. Literally no complaints at all. Threw some cornmeal on and the pizza slid right off and was able to pick it up off the grill easily. Definitely recommend it.Southern California

The first time I made pizza I realized I needed a way to get the pizza off of the egg, that night. I went to the garage and got a piece of 1/4" cherry plywood left over from a project and cut it to the shape of a peel. I intended to buy one for my next pizza cook but never got around to it. That was about six years ago and I am still using it.

I really like my super peel. It's on amazon as well. It also doubles as an air guitar._______________________________________________XLBGE

I have a cheap wood one from a restaurant supply store--- $12. Never had a pizza stick to it. If floured properly, I say go cheap on the peel and save the money for something else. Unless of course you are like @Mickey and can afford whatever you want.Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

If you use parchment paper I dont think the pizza will stick to the peel at all.LBGE & MiniOrlando, FL

Semolina is the best way to keep the pizza from sticking, I've found. It's like tiny ball bearings.[Northern] Virginia is for [meat] lovers.

The “Super Peel” works flawlessly and a quick demo entertains the company. (Juggling and knife throwing are beyond my ability.)
People say that Television is bad for you. It's that bloody Fridge, that's killing me.

I like my bamboo peel that I purchased from my local Cook's Warehouse.Extra Large, Large, and Mini. Tucker, GA

I have a wood one but I wish I had bought metal. I doesn't stick to the wood it's just that the metal is so much thinner it would be easier to slide under the pizza when pulling it off.XLBGE, LBGE, MBGE, SMALL, MINI, 2 Kubs, Fire Magic Gasser

If you want a wood peel this guy does about any custom wood work you want. I got an amazing cutting board from him but saw this before and looks really nice. Only bad thing is its all hand made and its a 3 plus month wait time. He's on etsy.com the store is greenriverwoods.
