use wire ties at the hinge. I have never had the white thingies and that is what I do when I take my egg apart.

I didn't need them when I took mine apart. It stays shut or open pretty good_______________________________________________XLBGE

Not sure what you're talking about; buy some cable ties would probably work

Like MrCookingNurse said above, I feel the same. This is how I travel with it and never used the white deals.
Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
I just take off the hinge spring before I remove the dome.

easiest way is to remove the springs, they come off easy with a screw driver or pliers. have someone hold the dome open when removing the springs, it takkes the tension off on them. they come off and on in 20 seconds
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -

But the easiest thing to do is nothing. There's hardly any tension on it, and it stays open or closed.

I'm so sorry but I totally just laughed out loud and had a mental image of it pimp slapping you. My coworkers are staring at me funny for laughing.henapple said:I would zip tie it. When I took mine apart the hoop pimp slapped me.
There's definelty nothing wrong with Zip tying for a little safety._______________________________________________XLBGE -
Mine will spring open pretty easily also. I have several of the white thingies laying around though.
