Mini plate setter
Thanks to the other mini thread I remembered this was now available. Headed down to Tucker this afternoon and picked it up. Kind of sucks to get the most out of it you have to also buy the new mini fire ring with the slots in it so it sits in right. I am gonna take the dremmel to mine and make it work. I know get the Woo and stones but I already have them just wanted this so I have one for all my eggs. In the store it seemed to fit in the eg perfect with just about a 1/4" to 1/2" gap all the way around the inside of the fire ring. Price wasn't bad $35.

I love my PS. I have one for both of my eggs. It's solid and does what it do well. There are obviously other solutions, better or worse, but I do love the PS._______________________________________________XLBGE

Very cool.

What's the gap between the grate and the plate setter like? Would like to compare to the gap with the woo and amazon stones.

Here's a couple pics I took of the platesetter in the mini with the old style fire ring. I am going to try to modify the ring toninght so the plate setter sits down further..

I doubt you will have an issue with the dremel. I was amazed at how easy it was to sand when I put on a nomex gasket.Looking forward to seeing it.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket!

@Lit, any updates on the modified ring? I think you and I have Mini's about the same age.

I am supposed to be receiving my mini today. Curious to see if it has the new firering. Imagine it will. They ordered it straight from ATL. How did the dremmel work @Lit?Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

She posted about that @Chubbs and it seemed to go well. Check it out:

I am not a fan of platesetters BUT why would you want it to sit down further Lit? If I used it would be happy with that height. I use the Mini Woo with the stones and that looks to be about same. Used it for years.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

I have updated my mini to the newer model so the newer ring fits. You can buy the newer fire ring and take a belt sander to it that is what I did with my old mini. Took about an hour and my garage looked like a scene from scarface.... -

Don't get me wrong I love my woo but there's no way I could have made this fit with the woo. Also there is still room to cut the notches bigger and drop the plate setter down more for even more room. This cook the lump lasted 7 hours with probably another hours worth of lump left at 300-350 the whole time.. -
Here's a pic of the ring with notches in it. You can see the grate sits like an inch below the felt line now

Your lump lasted seven hours with no problem?
