Ive tried that, and Its not working for me lol.. guess ill call Guru upXL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.

The egg is curved -- the fan plate isn't - so the corner of the screen hits the edge of the fan plate. Take a pliers and ever so slightly bend the corners of the fan's plate in. You will see that the screen then rides over the fan's plate. Then follow up by closing the vent plate over the vent screen...
-
Then what do I do with the expansion clip?XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.
-
The expansion clip slides on the top of the fan plate when the logo is on the bottom right hand corner. It pushes up into the upper track. I use a screw driver to push it up into the track. Then you slide the solid door up against the fan plate.

that's how mine is turned. I did what Charlie said and it seems the plate is pretty much locked into place. I can put the expansion clip on and slide it freely left to right.XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.

Here is a link to show you what it looks like installed,

Here is where Im at so far.. as you can see the expansion clip can slide off to the left with no issues. The Egg door is not sliding over the clip, but its obviously holding the plate pretty sturdy in it egg.XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.
-
The egg door is fine. All you have to do is push the expansion clip straight up into the upper track.

PIT+UP turns on the scan mode for the Digiq
XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle. -
Just wanted to say TY for the help guys. I was overly impressed with how accurate the Digiq held a steady temperature. I don't think it varied more than 1deg after set temp was reached and equalized..XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.
-
Yep - they are great for holding temps. I use mine on just about everything that takes more than 2 or 3 hours to cook. Congrats!!

I bent the fan mounting plate and the expansion clip to match the curve of the egg. It goes in and out much easier.

has anyone needed service on their digiq? i see they only have a 90 day warranty and was wondering if they would fix it or replace it 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or even 3 years later? afterall, its costing $300!

The only "fixing" I've heard of with these is you have to replace a probe when it gets fried. Not a warranty item I'll bet the ranch on that!Flint, Michigan
-
I understand the probes do burn out. I was just more concerned with the main unit or fan for that matter..XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.
-
I figured that's what you were driving at. I haven't heard of the unit malfunctioning other than fried probes.Flint, Michigan
-
Gotcha! Let me ask you this.. Have you ever used the 12v Battery Source for the digiq? If so, I would like to know what kind of battery life there is.
XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle. -
Nope. I have the dx2. No battery. I love using it on low & slows.Flint, Michigan
-
Gotta ask... what's this item used for?

The digiq DX2 by BBQ Guru attaches a fan to the bottom of your BGE and has temperature probes for the pit temp and food. The fan goes on and off to maintain the temperatue at the pit probe within a degree or two.

This is a picture of my fan and the fan plate that i bent ever so slightly "in" to compensate for the cervature of the egg. You can see the upper right hand corner is bent "in" .... I attach my fan with the motor in the lower position.

Sweet! That's the way it should be.. Afterall, $300 for a 90 day warranty is not appealing. But if their CS is top notch, then I feel more comfortable with my purchaseXL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.
