First Shot at ABT's Hmmmm they were ok!

Took my first shot at ABT's and they were ok. Not fabulous just ok. Think I may have took too much of the spicy inside out as there was little to no spicy taste in them. The ones I made with Chocolate chip cookie dough as the stuffing were great! The others I used cream cheese mixed with sharp cheddar, pepper, salt, garlic, and red pepper then wrapped in bacon.

Stuffing Mixed

Hollowed out jalapeños

These were the ingredients I used

Stuffed them by putting mixture in zip loc bag and cutting bottom corner off

Ready to go on the grill Did some boats and some in the stand and a couple with chocolate chip cookie batter

Finished product.

I am a fan of your cream cheese and goat cheese mixed. Also I like a little thicker bacon and crisp it up more. Just my 2 cents.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

If you are field stripping them-no seeds and no veins, then you need to juice them up with pepper jack or habaneo cheese along with the rest of the filling. Each batch will get better! Looks good!

I agree with Mickey the thicker bacon is better for ABTs. But you had a great cook - now the fun is to refine it. Also agree with the pulled pork a great option. I usually just keep it simple and only do cream cheese, bacon and jalapenos. less is more in my opinion. light on the rub too - the bacon gives all the flavor.

i mix cooked chorizo in with the cream cheese... adds a great flavor

Good ingredients equals good flavor. Fat free cream cheese is not wonderful. Add a little rub or spice and baste with a barbecue sauce just before they are finished cooking. ;;)Every day is a bonus day and every meal is a banquet in Winter Springs, Fl !

I actually like the thin bacon with ABTs. You can stretch a half slice around and it sticks without toothpicks.*******Owner of a large and a beloved mini in Philadelphia

I tried both thick and regular/thin bacon. Regular/thin is better IMO. Crisps up better and easier to wrap.

I've tried all the exotic mixes for a filling but we always come back to the simple stuff.Split peppers lengthwise, fill with cream cheese, drop a 1/2 cooked casing removed butterflied chorizo on it, wrap with room temp bacon (it will tighten as it cooks - no toothpicks needed).Direct or indirect as you choose.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!
