B & P Charcoal
Couldn't find any reviews anywhere. They appear to be a local outfit.

You mean B&B? naked whiz did a review of it HERE. I thought it was a pretty decent lump. Not a lot of weird rocks in it that I remember, had plenty of big pieces. I don't use it much because the only place I have found it is at Central Market and I don't go there much. Oh and Academy, but I always spend way too much there so I limit my trips. About $10-11 for a 20lb bag. If you are using a weed burner, it has a tendency to spark a bit when lighting it, but really, what lump doesn't.
Actually, looking at your post, .50 a lb for bulk doesn't seem like that great a deal. It's about what I pay for a single bag. Not sure what you usually pay or how big an order you have to make, though.

No, it is B & P. Here in Birmingham most places lump charcoal runs .75 to 1.00 a pound. Big Green Egg sells theirs for $26.00 for 20lb bag locally. Publix is 6.99 for 8lb bag, so .50 is a good price locally.

I don't know if this helps, but there are three Academy Sports in Birmingham, and they should carry B&B for $13 a 20 pound bag. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TopNavCatalogSearch?Ntt=lump+charcoal&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&N=0&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1

Yeah, I have heard that they carried some charcoal, just never really made it over there. Still after tax that is going to be .70 a pound. Not a big difference on one bag, but if I bought 200 pounds its 40-50 bucks.
Just wanted to know if anyone had tried it before I bought, don't want 200lbs of crap.

I used my best google-fu and couldn't find anything except there web site:...which doesn't have much!If the store carries it I would just buy a bag at normal price and give it a try. If you have to buy bulk at the grocery store to get a discount- I would consider calling this place and see if they would sell you a pallet or so direct.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

That is what is happening. I found out where the grocer gets it from and they will sell straight to me at a reduced price, but I have to make a bulk purchase. I bought one bag to give it a try and will report back.SmokeyPitt said:I used my best google-fu and couldn't find anything except there web site:...which doesn't have much!If the store carries it I would just buy a bag at normal price and give it a try. I will say this, they let me rip the bag open to see how big the chunks were, and there appear to be a good portion of big chunks.

Good deal...I wish I had a lump manufacturer close to me!Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Here is the bag. Going to open tonight for some chicken breasts.
