Anyone have an electric knife they really like? I sliced a brisket with my in-laws yesterday and thought it was awesome. Thiers is a 10+ year old cheapie but man did it make things easy

    Cen...I recommend this one:

I got the 9" replacement blade to go along with the 7" that comes with the fisherman. I read alot of reviews and many BBQ peeps like it.
Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

and it cuts as nice as any electric I've had.  Cuts bone pretty well too.

XXL #82 out of the first 100, XLGE X 2, LBGE (gave this one to daughter 1.0) , MBGE (now in the hands of iloveagoodyoke daughter 2.0) and lots of toys

I have two that I have been using for over 15 years.  One is a Proctor Silex Electric Carving Knife and the other is a Hamilton Beach.  They both work awesome.  I would set your budget to a max of $20 and go for it.

I feel a whole lot more like I do now than I did when I got here.

It does look like $20 is the number. I'm only going to use it 10X a year so I'll probably go that route. It was awesome on the brisket I did for Janell's dad

Keep repeating that mantra my friend.  You have invested in a lot of therapy to get to this point, keep it going.

Thought of you today when I was in Backwoods.  Remember when you called me when I was in there a few years ago and when I answered I told you I was in your favorite store?  You said, "Specs?"

Anyway...back to electric knives...actually you need to get a cordless one if you are buying new.  Only way to go.

I still laugh about that all the time.

Remember when you said "take this watermelon and throw it on that raft"? That didn't work out to well for me

    Cordless it is

It has made so many others laugh as well. The watermelon/raft trick.

Ok, so I finally checked, and then spent 20 minutes researching the name because most of it has worn off. I have a Rowenta Electric knife, now that won't help you much because apparently they quit making them. Walmart, Target have a nice selection of electric knives, and by nice selection I mean probably 2 or 3 in that $20 range.
Thanks, Mike "Live in such a way that if anyone should speak badly of you, no one will believe it."

I've a g-3 global 8 3/4 inch carving knife. Have used electrics before, but nothing will slice through meat like a well sharpened, perfectly balanced blade.

They do cost a bit more than Walmart electric knives though.. But it'll serve you for a lifetime, if cared for properly.

I got one as a gift a few years back. I use it once in awhile. It is nice for some things....like slicing a bunch of rolls open.

This is the Cuisinart electric  knife:

For slicing meats however, I reach more often for a 12" Victorinox granton edge slicing knife:

  • i Have good carving knives but I'm specifically looking for something for brisket. Mine have a thick bark on the and the sawing action even from sharp knives can break it up. also, they are very wide and I can get in there with the point of the electric and slide it right through the widest parts effortlessly. Tough to do with a 10" carver. Seemed like the electric just cruised right through. Anyhow, for $20, it's worth it to play around with

I know what you mean about knives breaking up the bark. I haven't done a brisket in quite some time. In fact, I haven't done one on my Egg yet! Guess I'll have to do one soon, and try both the electric and slicing knife on it.

    Thanks

I am looking for a slicing knife and the one mentioned earler was $120.

Are you happy with the Victor?

Not sure how thick crust is handled but I've never had a problem with cutting anything with global..
And it does have the benefit of not being obnoxiously loud. ;)
But for $20, you're right.. Can't go wrong I guess. That's how much I pay to have mine sharpened every year.

Bought one at bed bath and beyond recently, they only had one brand. It sucked. Returned it.
