Moving XL BGE for granite install

I am adding a granite surface to my BGE structure and I need to pull out 2 XL's to have it installed. I need some thoughts from with experience on how to move these beasts. Do I have to remove the tops? Or is it feasible for a couple of guys to get them out as a unit somehow? (I obviously didn't put them in place and I didn't see how me dealer did it). Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Attached is how they are bedded in

If you lift them by hand be sure you only lift from the bottom. Not the hinges or band clamps. Only the bottom.

I'm a little disappointed in the community response for a legitimate request for help (thanks Brownie for weighing in!) has no one else moved these things?
-
It took 3 of us to move it from the nest to my outdoor kitchen...not easy because of lack of room.
There is a "lift" you can buy but, I don't know if it fits the XL or not.
Just be CAREFULL!!! And plan ahead. Also, determine a backup plan if things don't go as planned.
Just my 2 cents

Pull the insides and lift from the bottom.

I think first thing would be to remove the guts and put them safely out of the way. In our shop we have moved large (1200 lb. +) machines by "cribbing" them up with blocks the same way they jack up houses to move them. With some help, one guy tips it enough to get a thin block under one side then under the other side. When it gets high enough, switch to 2x4 blocks then 4x4 blocks or what ever you have. As it goes up you usually alternate block direction for stability. Sort of looks like a log cabin. With enough blocks you can get it completely out of it's hole. Then two men should be able to get it by the bottom and move it. They can be put back the same way. It is actually very quick once you start. Good luck, Walt

When I was moving mine around, I used 2 LARGE straps crossed (XL I would use 3 or 4 straps crossed) and attach to a pole or 4X4 and lift. Ifin you have a bucket on a tractor, you could use that too....Hunting-Fishing-Cookin' on my EGG! Nothing else compares!

With the top off, I move mine with no problem.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

I've moved all size Eggs with a pot lifter
bingo. That's, in effect, what I did with some fore-arm forklifts in my post above. Made a radial cradle, and attached some straps to lift.

Thanks guys - I like the tractor bucket idea - I just have to figure our the strap method to make it stable

To be honest, when I built my nest and egg, I just lifted the base into place with no fire ring or raised grid. Once in place, complete assembly. No big deal :-) -
Tonight i took the advice to disassemble it to move it - took 10 minutes tops! WAy easier than worrying about dropping the whole assembly with straps and tractor loader! Granite wil be installed Friday!
