Morning everyone,
I am not sure of the "rules of the road" of the forum so if this is breaking one of them, let me know.
I thought of everyone on here this morning when I was discussing with a coworker buying groceries. We got on to the topic of buying things in bulk to save money. One of the resources my wife and I have used in the past is a company called "Zaycon Foods." You basically buy your items in bulk (for example 40 lbs of chicken breasts) and you go pick them up from a freezer truck on a set day/time.
Here is a "referall" link to the website: http://www.zayconfoods.com/refer/zf3049
Currently in my area they have the following for sale:
1. 93/7 lean ground beef for 3.29/lb at 40 lbs
2. All Beef hot dogs at 2.99/lb at 10lbs
3. Frozen Alaska True Cod Filets at 5.29/lb at 20 lbs
4. German Sausage at 2.99/lb at 10lbs
Anyway, great way if you do certain items a lot to save some money over the long haul.
Again, not sure if this violates any forum rules. If you click on the link and decide to order something I get a dollar credit with them. I don't really care about a dollar, I just more thought about saving you guys money.
Thanks,
JT

Nope, don't work for them, just trying to hook a brother/sister up.

What are "true" cod filets? Is there such thing as false cod filets?Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

I always thought those 3"-5" perfectly trimmed were the true filets-perhaps they are the false ones:)Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
wow i had to look that up. theres three kinds of cod called true, atlantic, pacific, and greenland. they sub in all types of other fish, ling cod, grouper, rock fish etc and sell them as cod in other areas. been seeing haddock at 3.29 a pound here. even better
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -

oh yeah. Tons of fish is mislabeled on purpose- seriously. If they are low on cod that week, in goes the catfish.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
I cut fish at a place called Southern Seafood in Tallahassee while I was in school. The name game goes on all the time. I almost never buy seafood becouse of it. Most folks don't know squat about where their seafood comes from or what it really is.
Fun fact: something like 90% of all shrimp you buy are frozen. If you spend $300 on a shrimp dinner, from the best restaurant in the world, it's most likely frozen.
When grouper season closes commercially in Florida, all the fish houses still have "fresh grouper" weeks after the closure. They either stockpiled and froze it or are getting it from another country like Mexico.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -
Kinda like grass fed organic beef. Never know what your getting. Have way too many "first hand" stories about food and it's sources. Certain things I will not eat.

I also fished commercially and sold to several fish houses near Gulf Breez fl. Let's just say, if a guy is up all night wadding in waist deep water slinging a 14ft cast net or hauling a 300ft gill net, and the ice runs low he might not be real eager to buy another $50 in ice. (it cuts into beer money)
Oyster rakers in appalachacola fl are the worst and it's standard practice. They never put their catch on ice till they hit the dock at the end of the day. That means their oysters have been in the hit sun for up to 12 hrs with no ice.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -
So they do this in a town a hour from me but no foods are listed_______________________________________________XLBGE

If you check back every once in a while on their website for your city, or sign up for their email alerts for your city, you will know when they are doing a promo in your area. They do one in mine every 3 months or so.

You won't eat grass fed organic beef?
Nah, no problem eating that. That part of my comment was meant to infer, when your paying extra for grass fed organic beef, in normal retail - hard to know that is what you are really getting.ahhhhh, example -- I love fresh spinach, froozen spinach is good, spinach from a can ** no way in H**l
( used to be on a farm that raised spinach).
