Seems like the big thing around here now is Donair egg rolls as well.
The Pizza shops are putting doair meat in an egg roll wrapper and then deep frying them!
-
Thats it I need to make them today.
-
You guys & gals call it a Donair....but it looks like a fajita. Why is it called a Donair?2nd large Egg Nest
-
"The sandwich is really a combination of a bastardized donar kebab and a gyro with a very funky sauce"
The meat is made almost like a meat loaf and is not solid steak. You also only have diced tomatoes and onions with the Donair suauce.
Gyo's (another type of sandwhich ) made in other parts, uses similiar meet but tzatziki sauce. The only thing that makes them similar to a Jajita is the lita bread!
-
@ Fliehigh...are you referring to Gyro's? Thanx for the description Sounds yummy!2nd large Egg Nest

This is the kind of don air kebab I am used to after jars at the local, I haven't had a decent one since coming to Canada.I don't know how you would achieve it on a BGE though as it is usually on a rottiserie:
-
This is flat out a Gyro...I've never heard it called a kabaaaaaaaab haha. Ya'll talk funny!2nd large Egg Nest

Ya sorry, I meant Gyro. -
Also to help with those of you not familiar with the east coast of Canada, it is pronounced:
(Doh, nare) Doh like homer simpson and mare (female hourse) with an N.
Donair. They are not like the Kebabs from Europe as these are more like a GYRO. It is a local spin off that you can only truely experience if it is created here or from a local reciepe and you have had a great night of Drinking and dancing!

Thats is almost 6 lbs of beef and i dont know how else to get that much spread out on the egg.I cut thin strips off of it and fry them before the go on the pita so they all get that special crispy love.
-
I like them and do the same as Millsy when I make Donairs.
