I've been using a Weber Kettle Grill for years, but I quickly found out that the BGE is completely different. It's taken me a number of experiments to get an idea on how to use it.
What would be really helpful is to have a newbie thread where experienced people gave tips on how to use it. I found the instructions and DVD kind of useless.
I will say that the BGE is a terrific outdoor cooking appliance.(I can't call it a grill, because it's much more than that).
I'm glad to be a BGE owner, and part of this group.

Don't be afraid of the search function. Many of the questions that you may have about cooking, setup, temps, are in the forum archives. If your specific question is not out there ask.

I've been an egger for a year. There are some things I'm super confident in and others where I need help. With just a few exceptions, we're all like that in a way. Everybody here is absolutely happy to help.

Steve, Keep a log book on meats ,times and temps. You can refer back to it every once in awhile and fine tune your cooks. Play with your temps and start cookin like a mad man!!!!!!LET'S EAT

I've only had my egg a few months. I've cooked probably 8 - 10 pizzas, multiple steaks, briskets, butts, chicken every way mentioned here and never have I used the same method. I haven't had a bad meal yet.
Learned a lot here.
Thanks -
Thought I was progressing - but after looking at some of the cooks going on here ----- I am a newbie still. But learning fast - burning the charcoal.....

I've been an egger for almost a year now. I've found it's like having a salt water reef aquarium....very addictive, you get totally sucked in by it, great forums to participate in, always learning something new to try, and always "something else you just gotta have"!
Enjoy!

Flamethrower has good advice... write it down...especially the mix of rubs, temps and cook times. I;m sorry... but the search feature on this site is useless... google however will usually bring you to a pertinent thread on the forum for you questions. There's a ton of great eggheads here that have all of the answers... and if they don't they usually make one up, or discuss it into the ground!!
Curious to know what the first cook is going to be!

Yep, don't be worried about asking questions. People here aren't childish like other boards. They don't tell you to "search, it's already been discussed ".
