Need Advice on Grate

just got a cast iron grate for christmas and was looking for advise to season or maintain this grate without rusting. Anyone broke the code on this?

I am fairly new to CI grates myself, but a light coating of cooking spray and 300 degrees in the egg for an hour or so will season it. For the most part the cooks you do will contain enough grase to maintain a good seasoning. The more you use it the better it should get. I have used mine a about a half dozen times in the last two weeks and its got a nice glossy black color to it.

Mine came preseasoned and generally, regular use seems to keep it pretty well seasoned. I'll sometimes hit it with a light spray of PAM just as I am shutting the Egg down after use.

Smokin Dog...I have never seasoned my CI grate and have had no problems with rust. Just a FYI, the grate has a flat surface on one side perfect for flippin' burgers. The other side is great for leaving sear marks on steaks and other high temp cooks. You may already know all this just thought I'd mention.

I've had mine about two years probably and it was never seasoned and it cooks great. I recently gave it a good cleaning and plan on using it again tonight for some thick chops.

I've never seasoned since day one and that was almost 3 years ago. No rust
