    I never pay attention to it.  I don't like that far left column anyway.  Wish you could get rid of it to leave more remove for forum posts.   The avatars do take up less space.    See what others think.  Thanks for asking. 

     

    Any ideas on search?  I'm not getting a warm adn fuzzy feeling after wading through the Vanilla forums.  Sounds like it is on the way though.

    The avatars would have to be bigger for me to see them.  Also, if you want to know who's online, avatars might be a nice addition, but you need to see the name really.  If I'm looking for someone in particular, the names should be alphabetized and of course, you can't alphabetized avatars.  So, I'd prefer a list of names, and if it gets in the way of things, it could be a link to the list of names.  Right now, I'd say the width of the posting area is wide enough.  If it gets any wider it gets hard to read.  So, I don't mind the list being on the right side under the forum lists.

    Right, but if I don't know what the avatar is for "Joe Blow", I'd have to hover over lots of them until I found him. Avatars might be nice and pretty, like you say, but I'd like to see names/handles.

    I'm fine either way....see no value in knowing or not knowing who is online.  And what does online mean?  The last 1 minute or 1 day?   Forget this stuff.  Give us a better search function.....then you can work on the small stuff.

    If you're going to keep the avatar list in rows & columns, would it be possible to put the name below each avatar, and have the names in alphabetical order?  Or, if you're going to just have 1 column vertically, perhaps you can put the name next to the avatar? 

    Either way, I personally don't have a big opinion on it, and I think there's a lot more important things to fix (that I posted about in another thread)...

    I just looked at the who's online (8:15ish on a Thursday evening) and 20 of the 28 people online don't even have an avatar.  I'd say ditch the avatar display until you can put a name on each one.

    Please list who is online in alphabetical names. The Avatar's are time consuming to hover over each one to see who is online and 90% of posters do not even have an Avatar so it is not like it would be easily recognizable since they all look the same

    names only, alphabetic order. Avatar's are a complete waste of bandwidth - even when displaying the actual comments in the forum.  Especially the animated avatars.
